Com 35 anos, o internacional pela seleção da Holanda, que também já passou por Internazionale, Real Madrid, Sampdoria e Ajax, continua a ser utilizado regularmente por Massimiliano Allegri. Até ao momento, disputou 23 jogos oficiais, 18 deles como titular, e marcou dois golos.
